What is Permaculture?

JMAC Perma-Gardens is located on 5.6 acres outside Sonora, California. Over the past several years, we have been slowly transforming our property utilizing permaculture principles. In the process we attempt different techniques so that we know what works in the California Foothills. Our goal is to be an inspiring example of sustainable agriculture and pass that knowledge on to you.
At JMAC, we specialize in using permaculture principles to create long lasting and sustainable food gardens in the central foothills of California.
Our journey to permaculture started with a realization that something was wrong with our food. Fruits and vegetables bought in the grocery stores were often tasteless. We also noticed that diabetes and obesity were becoming common place. Our conclusion was that the modern diet was lacking in nutrition and variety. Farms are relying on herbicides and pesticides to grow their GMO mono-culture crops. Having been life long gardeners, we began looking for solutions that both the individual and large scale producers could embrace. That answer is Permaculture.
